🌿 When Compassion Becomes a Calling: Lessons from Nehemiah 1:2–4 Bible Text: > “When I heard these words, I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven.” — Nehemiah 1:4 (KJV) 💔 The Moment that Changed Nehemiah’s Life Some messages don’t just reach your ears—they reach your soul. When Nehemiah received the heartbreaking news about the condition of Jerusalem, everything around him stopped. His heart broke. The once-glorious city of God lay in ruins—its walls torn down, its gates burned, and its people living in fear and disgrace. Even though Nehemiah lived far away in the comfort of the Persian palace, his spirit was tied to the pain of his people. He didn’t ignore what he heard or say, “That’s not my problem.” Instead, he sat down, wept, mourned, fasted, and prayed. That reaction was not weakness—it was divine sensitivity. It was God stirring his heart to act. 🌿 The Context of Nehemiah 1:2–4 Nehemiah was serving as the cupbeare...

WOMAN RAISED BY MONKEYS IN THE JUNGLE

WOMAN WHO WAS RAISED BY MONKEYS IN THE JUNGLE OPENS UP ABOUT HER UPBRINGING

In 1954, in a remote South America village, a four year old girl was abducted and then abandoned deep in the Colombian rainforest. She managed to survive despite spending several years alone in the jungle, alongside a troop of Capuchin Monkeys for company.

Copying everything they did, including how they got food, is how she survived untill she was found at ten years old. Speaking to UNILAD, Marina told her story as she revealed what it was like growing up with the monkeys and how she learned to survive by getting fruit and food for them.

She explained: "I didn't know what to eat except the water. And I noticed the monkeys used to eat things. They kept eating something and I used watching where they were getting this food which took me days to find out where they get the food from

One of the monkeys used to go to Indian people homes when fallen asleep, and enter their rooms very quietly and pick some foods out of these rooms with a huge amount of fruits. He used to eat quickly and give me a sign of eating quickly as we run away not to be found. So I learned to eat as quickly as I could, always.

She learned to recognise certain noises, as well as finding food to eat. " The screechy one, you have to really be careful, you have to hide away. " Many sounds means something like danger". One is the louder one, and the whistle one is the food one.'  .

It took her a while to get used to it,  she just learned from watching what they were doing every time she heard the sound.

Marina's story doesn't just describe her exceptional journey of survival at four years old, but also how she was found at ten years old by hunters, sold to a brothel, before she later escaped and lived Life on the streets of Columbia.
